Plot
A family is invited to spend an entire weekend in a lonely house in the country, but as the weekend progresses, they realize that the family that invited them has a dark side… What character elements do James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis share? The story is inspired by the Danish original Speak No Evil (2022) directed by Kristian Tafdrup, who befriends a Dutch couple while on vacation. Although the Dutch were somewhat socially awkward, the two couples got along well, and upon returning home, Tafdrup received an invitation from a Dutch family to come to Holland. He thought for a moment, but decided it would be strange to stay with people he didn’t really know; his story came to light for the film as he unleashed his darkest fantasies about what might have happened if he had agreed (while insisting that the original Dutch couple never harbored bad feelings).

In this remake, the nationalities of both families were changed to American and British. The biggest improvement?
This version is infinitely better, less tedious and, dare I say it, actually satisfying. James McAvoy – what a force. Honestly, just put this guy in every horror movie from now on, especially if he’s the villain. He’s so good you can almost hear him whisper, “Look at him stealing every damn scene.” Everyone. Time.Speak No Evil is, in my opinion, one of the best horror films of the year.
Characters that are actually worth rooting for
Well, okay, they’re a little dumb for the first third, but at least they get smarter before you lose hope except for one particular person. Blumhouse, bow down, you finally did something right!
